Our new designated bar at The Coal Shed on North Street has been making waves, and we’re proud to have been nominated for best new venue at the Brighton Bar Awards. One of the new cocktails which has helped put us on the map is our Blackberry Spritz – a rich and refreshing Autumnal take on the classic spritz which has had people coming back for more.
We’re all about sharing the love here, so we asked our Bar Manager Doug to walk us through how the team makes this incredible drink which you can see here on our Instagram. We’re also sharing with you the full recipe if you want to try making this for yourself at home:
Blackberry Syrup method:
Cook fresh blackberries with a little bit of water in a pan until they break down and go jammy. Pour in around 250ml of 1:1 sugar syrup, stir, and blend for a few minutes until smooth. Fine strain the syrup through a strainer to remove any remaining seeds.
Blackberry Spritz Recipe:
- 25ml 58& Co. vodka
- 25ml lemon juice
- 25ml blackberry syrup
- 15ml port
- Top with prosecco and soda water
- Fresh blackberries for garnish
Start by filling a highball with ice. Pour in your vodka, lemon juice, blackberry syrup and port, and stir for 15-20 seconds to mix and chill the drink. Top with a generous amount of prosecco and some soda water and garnish with some fresh blackberries.
