The Coal Shed has opened its doors to its new home at Clarence House, North Street, ushering in a new era.
The restaurant is like no other in Brighton, featuring a chic industrial aesthetic inspired by NYC brasseries and a standalone cocktail and three private dining rooms.
Our Executive Chef, Lee Murdoch, has reimagined our menu, taking everything, you love about The Coal Shed and elevating it to new heights. We’ve sourced the best meat. seafood, and produce to create a menu of exceptional fire-cooked dishes that cater to everyone.
The Coal Shed Brighton is situated in the heart of the city centre on the lower part of North Street, and surrounded by the popular Lanes and North Laine.

We’re still going to be serving incredible steak as always, but we’ve also got a stunning new set lunch menu filled with wood-fired meat, fresh seafood and vibrant vegetarian dishes priced at just £25/29 for 2/3 courses available from 12-3pm Monday-Friday starting from Monday 23rd September.
Choose from our starters including Wood Fired Atlantic Scottish Salmon, Watermelon Ceviche or Smoked Baby Back Ribs before moving onto a main course of Sussex Half Rotisserie Chicken, Duroc Pork Chop or Sea Bass. If you opt for the full three courses, you’ll also be able to choose from our indulgent range of desserts including Brioche Brûlée, Medjool Date Cake or Churros.
For the first time, The Coal Shed on North Street has a designated cocktail bar with its own bar food menu for those last minute drop-ins and casual lunches with friends. Our stunning bar area is reserved for walk-ins only which means that, if you see a free table, it’s all yours.
Once seated, you’ll be given a designated menu with food items only available in the bar area, including a Reuben Sandwich (12), Kimchi Grilled Cheese (10) and Steakhouse Burger (14), cuts of steak from our Charcoal Grill section, salads, sides and bar snacks including Buttermilk Fried Chicken, Blue Prawn Toast and Firecracker Cauliflower.
We’ve also pulled together one of the best bar teams in Brighton and we’re serving up draught beers, exceptional wines and outrageously good cocktails until late every night of the week, with DJs from Thursday-Saturday to get you in the mood for the weekend.

The Grand Dining Room our largest private dining room, seating up to 50 guests, is ideal for bigger events.
The Longhorn, located within the Grand Dining Room, is our most intimate space, accommodating up to 16 people.
The Flamingo Social, hidden down private corridor, this unique space seats 26 and features a marble-tiled table, leather seating, original artwork and a dedicated serving team. This is for the party people, the life and soul of the party. It’s the setting for the best nights of your life, with your best people by your side.
